Ideas for Fundraisers

Fundraisers can actually be fun-raisers if you know how to go about it. First of all you’re going to need a good idea.

  • Raffles-frequently, businesses can be talked into donating prizes for raffles. The bigger and better the prizes, the more money the raffle is likely to take in. Keep it honest and above board, and you could have people asking you when the next raffle that you’re running will take place, or they’ll be asking you to run a raffle for their fund raiser.

  • Rummage sales- all sorts of treasures and antiques have been known to turn up at rummage sales, so be sure to have someone competent appraising and pricing the items. Advertise your rummage sale and be sure to make a big part of that advertisement contain the name of the organization for which you are raising funds. I have seen neighborhoods with block after block involved in rummage sales for a good cause. This is a virtual treasure trove for rummage sale nuts.

On the Slightly More Extravagant Side

This is probably my favorite choice, though I wouldn’t want to be the one organizing it. Get yourself a committee for this one.

  • Have a carnival-now that’s a lot of work, and it’s going to cost money if you’re going to have rides and games. But if you’ve got one huge amount of money to raise, and a few favors that you can call in; everyone loves a carnival.

  • Car washes-many gas stations will donate the space and water hookup you need for car wash.

Make sure to also have a fundraising website set up. This can help generate more revenue for your cause and get your message out better.
